Affiliate Disclosure
Our policy is to keep editorial decisions independent and make any commercial relationship clear before you engage with affected content. Affiliate arrangements must never determine which cheeses or businesses we cover, or how we assess them.
Current affiliate relationships
[TO CONFIRM: whether fromage.co.uk has any affiliate arrangements; if so, list each programme, partner, affected content and how the publisher earns commission.]
Any confirmed arrangement belongs here and beside the relevant content. We will describe the actual relationship in plain English, including what action earns commission.
What an affiliate link means
An affiliate link allows a business to attribute a referral to a publisher. Under an affiliate arrangement, the publisher can receive commission for resulting purchases or other agreed actions. UK guidance from the Committee of Advertising Practice treats affiliate marketing as advertising. [1]
How commercial content is labelled
Our policy requires an identifiable advertising label beside an affiliate link and a clear explanation near the beginning of affected content. If a whole piece is advertising or affiliate led and its commercial nature is not obvious, that nature must also be clear at the entry points leading to it, including menus, cards and search snippets.
CAP's UK guidance distinguishes between wholly affiliate advertising and editorial articles containing some affiliate content. It says readers should be able to identify the advertising before engaging with it; a disclosure at the bottom alone is unlikely to be sufficient. [1]
Editorial independence and supplied samples
We choose subjects for their reference value and readers' questions. Our policy prohibits affiliate led rankings and requires evidence appropriate to each claim, whether the subject has a commercial relationship with us or not.
Any supplied sample, hosted visit or other relevant support must be disclosed with the resulting piece. A supplier's description of a cheese must remain attributed to that supplier.
[TO CONFIRM: any supplied samples, hosted visits, sponsorship or other commercial support requiring disclosure.]
