Authors and Reviewers
Authors and reviewers should bring relevant knowledge, careful source work and a clear account of their experience to fromage.co.uk. Every published piece must identify a real author or editor, with specialist review where the subject requires it.
How contributors are chosen
Selection should match the person to the task. A practical guide needs someone who can explain decisions clearly; a technical article needs knowledge of its methods and evidence. Relevant experience may come from cheesemaking, maturing, retail, cooking, research or another field suited to the commission.
Before commissioning, the editor must establish the contributor's experience, proposed remit and relevant interests. Qualifications, professional roles and first-hand work must be described accurately, with supporting records rather than assumed expertise.
What each profile records
Each author and reviewer profile must include:
- Name and role: who wrote, edited or reviewed the work.
- Relevant experience: the background that supports the person's contribution.
- Remit: the subjects and jurisdictions they are competent to cover.
- Disclosed interests: relevant employment, consultancy, commercial relationships, supplied samples or other connections.
An interest must be disclosed alongside the relevant work as well as in the profile when it could affect a reader's assessment. Experience in one subject must not be presented as authority over every aspect of cheese.
When specialist review is required
Law, food safety, health, allergy, protected names, ownership and technical production pieces require a named reviewer with relevant, disclosed competence. The review must address the claims within that person's remit, including the source, jurisdiction and date where these determine the answer.
A named human editor retains the publication decision. AI approval cannot substitute for specialist review or editorial sign-off.
